Greetings, dear friends, both familiar faces and those joining the Michelle Thompson Art community for the first time. I've genuinely missed connecting with all of you, and I extend a warm welcome to those embracing the art journey with me. For those who've followed my artistic endeavors, you know I've been absent from the scene for a while.
Life took unexpected turns, prompting me to hit the pause button. To those who collect my art – thank you for your support. My art is an expression of joy, featuring vibrant colors, uplifting images, and encouraging messages. As some of you may be aware, I experienced a profound loss in 2017 when my beloved mother succumbed to cancer. Her absence left a void that made it challenging for me to channel my usual happiness into my paintings.
In the subsequent years, I found solace in a part-time job that I adored. However, life threw more challenges my way as my father battled leukemia and eventually passed away. The weight of grief, coupled with additional stressors, stifled my creativity, forcing me to put my paintbrushes aside.
Art has always been an integral part of who I am, though I didn't realize its professional potential until my 40s – yes, 40! Over the past two years, I've slowly rediscovered the joy of creating, and I'm excited to announce that I'm ready to dive back into the world of painting.
This time, I approached my art with a prayer for something new – a theme that would embody resilience, forgiveness, and finding my voice as an artist despite adversity. I'm thrilled to share that my prayer has been answered in a big way!
Starting next week, I embark on a new chapter with the Milan Art Institute, and the timing feels serendipitous, as if a new year brings new beginnings.
My studio is rejuvenated, stocked with fresh supplies, and adorned with portraits of my parents, who remain an integral part of my artistic journey. With unwavering support from my husband and grown sons, I'm fueled with enthusiasm. The excitement is palpable as I prepare to learn new techniques, enhance my sketching abilities, delve into oil painting, and truly discover my artistic voice.
While juggling a fulfilling 40-hour week career in Property Management, I've found balance and healing. My coworkers have been an unexpected source of laughter and camaraderie, becoming a vital part of my journey. Life often leads us down paths we never envisioned, only to realize it was precisely what we needed. My co-workers, with their zany antics and infectious laughter, have been a balm for my wounded heart.
I invite you all to join me on this exciting adventure. I plan to document my progress through blog posts, sharing pictures, and perhaps even a short video, or three! Your feedback and support mean the world to me. Becoming a professional artist is my passion, and I'm elated to resume this journey, armed with a deeper perspective on life.
Here is a quick snap-shot of my studio. One day it will be larger and way more organized!
